The independent Donaldson Review of assessment and the National Curriculum recommended significant reforms to current arrangements.

While the Welsh Government has accepted these recommendations, the NASUWT has warned its implementation plan risks excluding the profession from meaningful engagement in the development of policy, in direct contradiction to the key principle set out in the Review that the New Curriculum should be ‘built for the profession, by the profession.’

The NASUWT is continuing to ensure that the voice of teachers and school leaders is at the heart of developments around curriculum and assessment policy and has led the campaign to ensure that the Welsh Government moves forward on this basis.
