The NASUWT is clear that it is appropriate for schools as public institutions to be held accountable for their work with children and young people.
However, the Union continues to express concern about the impact of the current system of floor standards and performance tables on the working conditions of teachers and school leaders and the educational opportunities schools and colleges are able to make available to children and young people.
The NASUWT continues to campaign for a more fit-for-purpose system of accountability that supports rather than detracts from the work of teachers and school leaders to raise standards.
